NALMA Staff

Establishing a new association takes commitment and perseverance. Effective and efficient administration is important to NALMA's long-term success. NALMA staff have been working continuously on establishing a sold operational foundation for the association and at the same time keeping up with the demands of major projects that are important to the future of the lands profession, as well as First Nation lands management. The board of directors is continually reviewing draft corporate operational policies relating to administration, communications, personnel and strategic plans for the association.

Leona Irons, Executive Director,

The Executive Director reports and is accountable to the Board of Directors of the National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association Corporation for the administration and enforcement of the provisions of Part II of the Canada Corporations Act, R.S.C. 1970, c.C-32. The position is responsible for fulfilling NALMA’s goals and execution of the board’s policy and administrative directives, and for planning, organizing, coordinating and managing the operation of the corporation within the parameters of the approved annual operating work plan and budget.

Julia Taylor, Project Manager,

Julia is the liaison for the Regional Lands Associations, as well as acting Coordinator for the ones which do not currently have a Coordinator. Julia also organizes the National Gatherings and is a part of the projects that NALMA is involved in.

Gerry Duquette Jr., Land Management Resource Coordinator, First Nation Lands Managers Association of Quebec and Labrador FNLMAQ&L

Gerry is bilingual, and works closely with NALMA's francophone associates. Gerry also coordinated the Centre of Lands Excellence COLE and its programs and resources.

Jill Knott, Finance and Professional Support,

Jill is responsible for the administration and processing of all financial documentation of NALMA. She is also responsible for the administration and co-ordination of Level II Professional Land Management Certification Program by assisting the Master Instructor and participants of the training program.

Debra Campbell, Master Instructor,

As the Master Instructor Debra deliverers the Level Two Technical Training, as well as updating and revising all the courses content. As the manager of the Professional Development, Debra plans and organizes the operations of the PD, matching the goals and objectives to NALMA's overall vision.
